Dodge Journey 3.6L Rear End Repair Information

Rear Wheel Hub Torque Specs

The Journey rear wheel hub is held to the vehicle much like the front wheel hubs. There are 4 bolts which torque into nuts that hold the hub onto the rear wheel suspension. To remove these bolts and the hub assembly you will first need to jack up the vehicle and remove the braking system from the corresponding side of the vehicle. Once out of the way you can remove the bolts by using the access holes on the hub plate itself. Be sure to hold the nuts on the other end with a wrench. Once all 4 have been removed you can then remove the rear hub assembly and place a new part into its place. The 4 bolts can be torqued down to 75 ft-lbs.

Rear Shock Installation

To replace the rear shocks on a Dodge Journey you will need to remove two sets of bolts/nuts located at the bottom and top of the shock. The bottom bolts can be accessed from underneath the vehicle however the uppe rnuts will need to be accessed from the trunk of the car. To uninstall the old shock simply just remove both of the fasteners sets and the part will come out. When installing the new part reverse the procedure and tighten up the lower bolts to 73 ft-lbs and then the upper nuts to 41 ft-lbs.

Rear Control Arms Installation

The rear suspension has a series of lower control arms that hold the rear wheel knuckle to the vehicles frame. Included within these arms are the trailing link arm and the crossmember mounting bolt which holds the arm to the frame. Both of these can be torqued down to 70 ft-lbs. As for the upper control arms they are very similar to the lower arm and contains the same arms and fastening specs. Both bolts can be torqued down to 70 ft-lbs.
